Designed and built for storage, the mighty modular steel structure of the shipping container is insanely versatile, having been used for everything from modern housing, pop-up shops and swimming pools. All completely different purposes than what Malcolm McLean must have envisaged when he invented the modern shipping container in 1956.
Now a staple at summer festivals and larger events, not to mention bespoke exhibitions and product launches, the humble shipping container has come a long way – and we’ve certainly converted our fair share of steel boxes over the years.
It’s the ordinariness of the container that makes it so malleable and open to transformation. One of our conversions for Ford Go Electric housed a first-of-its-kind, ‘E-Launch’, a thrilling battery electric acceleration simulator, showcasing the capability of Ford’s electric vehicles.
For Wolf Blass we were tasked with converting three shipping containers into individual wine tasting experiences and one container into a bar. The result was a beautifully branded customer sensory experience where people were invited to sip, sniff and taste the finery of Wolf Blass.
Letting our imaginations run wild in this way, with ingenious ideas, and showcasing our craftsmanship through exquisite interiors and repurposing of the steel boxes into something spectacular is hugely exciting to our team. It’s what we do at Setsquare Creative; design and build amazing, clever spaces that showcase our clients’ products really, really well.
